Amsterdam Guide Books
We have used these books ourselves, and found them helpful when planning a visit to Amsterdam

Amsterdam, The Rough Guide...$10.47

Lots of information in this one. Recommendations broken down by location, with maps of each area. They have a few coffeeshop's listed too. The final chapter discusses Amsterdam in history, art, literature, and language.

Subtitled, 'the cool guide to Amsterdam'...$10.40

This one is clearly not aimed at mainstream travelers, it will take you to the places that standard guidebooks don't bother to cover (at least not in any detail): sex shows, hemp and 'shroom shops. And yet it still finds space for some budget lodging and restaurant advice. A good companion to compliment your mainstream guidebook.

And here's a selection of diversions to occupy your time while waiting for that trip to Amsterdam

The Book of BUDS, by Ed Rosenthal.......$13.27

This full-color guide showcases the diversity of cannabis varieties. Stunning close-ups from the world's great breeders are accompanied by concise information about growing characteristics and bud quality. Engaging essays offer insights into marijuana's special botany and the culture that surrounds this controversial plant.

Pot Planet, Adventures in Global Marijuana Culture......$10.50

In Pot Planet, journalist Brian Preston scores big, compiling reports from Thailand, Amsterdam, Australia, his home in Vancouver, B.C., and other hotbeds of the high life. Part travelogue, part buyer's guide.

Up in Smoke (dvd)..........$16.99

Cheech and Chong's classic doper movie. The boy's have come a long way from the good old days. Last I saw Cheech he was playing a cop on TV and poor old Chong just plead guilty to being a paraphernalia manufacturer/dealer. Get this movie and see what first made them famous.

Homegrown (dvd).............$25.16

Great movie about bringing a crop to market in Northern California. Big name stars in this one include Billy Bob Thornton, Jamie Lee Curtis, John Lithgow, Ted Danson, Jon Bon Jovi, and many others.
